With almost 20 years of international video-game experience designing and leading small-to-large groups of developers, marketers and business developers; I have developed a broad knowledge of videogame business, software and development. I specialize in the role of ‘Senior Game Producer’, though have fulfilled many posts during the various phases of building out my first company. The last 5+ years I’ve worked on numerous Theme Park interactive Dark-Rides.

History

Growing up in various places around the world as an expat family; from a young age I was always drawing and painting.

After moving back to the Netherlands my interests broadened and I set out to create my own board- & card-games, as well as comics and short-stories.

I then started to use my Hi-8 camera to make ‘films’, which resulted in some… well… lets say… I’m no Spielberg 😉

At some point my interest settled mostly on videogaming as I always wanted to make my own games.

After some time altering existing games, to further down this path, I signed up to one of the first ‘game schools’ in the Netherlands.

During my collage years I made numerous projects, and with one of them I actually won the national art-award ‘Prins Bernard Kunst Anjer’.

Modding

Beyond Macromedia products, there were hardly any tools out there at the time to take game-production to the next level.

The answer here was ‘modding’ where with a group of enthousiasts we’d undertake conversions of existing games, to our own settings, stories and gameplay.

This required some technical skills to ‘hack’ such games, or deal with their C++ SDK’s, model tools and whatnot so I picked up a lot of raw hard-skills during this time. It was also an incredibly rewarding experience working together with other amatures making our own productions.

When we build mods we put them online for free distribution and it is this step that got me exposed to a group of investors with who I then started the game-company ISOTX.

Entrepreneur

Between 2005 and 2014 I’ve been involved in setting up the ISOTX game company as a co-founder. Starting out straight after collage on a small budget using money from the Dutch Art Award.

This company grew out to house over 50 people, having created numerous Free-2-Play MMO’s, software and regular games.

With ISOTX I traveled a lot throughout the years, working from many places around the world, including India, the US, Greece and Switzerland until finally settling down in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

ISOTX’s international character was not only showcased through our travels, but also that the people-composition was spread out over both the US and Europe, combined with a string of international partners.

My role in ISOTX was primarily Creative Director and Game Producer but I have on-and-off worked on a variety of roles including Art Direction, business development, marketing and general management.

Consultancy

Currently I am working as a Senior Game Producer consultant for numerous industries, ranging from digital productions for Theme Park attraction’s in Asia to videogames for all kinds of platforms; and recently even crypto-gaming projects.

Alongside my consultancy work, I still undertake many entrepreneurial projects and/or join startups aiming to disrupt the videogame business.
